Kendall Dilling, President of the Pathways Alliance issued the following statement in response to the Alberta budget:
CALGARY – Feb.28, 2022
“The Pathways Alliance is encouraged by signals in today’s Alberta budget for continued collaboration and support to drive needed co-investment in carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and other emissions reduction technologies.
“We continue to work constructively and collaboratively with Alberta to support the development of the right environmental and economic frameworks that will enhance the strategic significance of Alberta’s responsibly produced oil and gas to meet the world’s growing energy security needs.
“As we look at the significant resource revenues Alberta has generated this year from our operations, we are immensely proud of our role in ensuring Albertans and Canadians can continue to benefit from the jobs and revenues that help pay for our roads, schools, hospitals and other community improvements announced today.
“We welcome the additional investments in Emissions Reduction Alberta and Alberta Innovates, and the dedicated funding reserved for CCUS investment through the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) fund.
“We look forward to further details and working cooperatively in the coming months on enhancements to the Alberta Petrochemical Incentive Program (APIP).
“By investing in technology, we can reduce emissions while creating jobs for Albertans and ensuring responsibly produced Canadian energy can help meet the world’s energy security needs for decades to come.”
