Statement from Kendall Dilling, President, Pathways Alliance, congratulating Prime Minister Mark Carney

“On behalf of Pathways Alliance, I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party of Canada on forming Canada’s next federal government.

“This is a significant moment in Canada’s history. The ongoing trade dispute with the United States has only added pressure to the rising economic challenges facing Canadians. If we are going to emerge as a stronger, more competitive nation, every industry, including Canada’s oil sands, must be supported to thrive.

“The oil sands industry is a key driver of our economy, contributing billions of dollars and sustaining hundreds of thousands of jobs annually while helping to provide a secure source of energy to Canadians and the world. Our country has long benefitted from a strong energy sector that generates critical revenue for governments and that helps fund essential services.

“We have an opportunity to expand that vital role, and to continue building Canada’s economic and energy future. Our new federal government is encouraged to act decisively to remove barriers to investment, build additional pipeline capacity, increase market access, and advance Indigenous initiatives and partnerships. Together we can grow our resource economy, supercharge Canada’s economy and continue to advance environmental innovation.

“Pathways Alliance is eager to work with Prime Minister Carney’s government to advance our shared priorities, deliver economic opportunities, and continue to protect Canada’s place as a global leader in providing secure energy to Canada and around the world.”
