Kendall Dilling, President of the Pathways Alliance issued the following statement in response to Alberta’s Emissions Reduction and Energy Development (ERED) Plan:

CALGARY – April 19, 2023

“The Pathways Alliance is encouraged by the Government of Alberta’s plan to reduce emissions and achieve net zero, while ensuring industry can compete globally, attract investment and continue to provide economic growth and prosperity for Albertans and Canadians.

“We are particularly pleased with the province’s recognition that a coordinated approach with the federal government and industry is needed to compete with the United States, Europe and others for investment in widescale carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) deployment, essential to achieve emissions reduction goals.

“We agree fully that transparent and trusted partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations are needed to advance emission reduction goals and that traditional knowledge and perspectives be included in developmental decisions.

“When we all work together – industries, governments, Indigenous communities, and non-governmental organizations alike – we can achieve both Alberta’s full economic potential and meaningful climate action.”
